About the Founder
Daniel Muzungu — Founder & Chief Executive Officer

“For me, agriculture is more than a business – it is a pathway to resilience, nutrition, and dignity for households across Rwanda.”
I am an agribusiness entrepreneur with over seventeen years of experience in Rwandan agriculture, rural development, and international trade. Growing up in a large farming family in Kamonyi District in Southern Rwanda gave me first-hand insight into the resilience of smallholder farmers — but also the challenges they face: volatile markets, scarce resources, and cycles of exclusion.
My academic path began with a Licence en Gestion in business management at the Institut Supérieur des Techniques Commerciales et Économiques de Bukavu, then a Master of Arts in International Social Sciences (Development Studies) at Theologische Hochschule Friedensau in Germany, graduating in 2014. Studying abroad broadened my perspective on sustainable agricultural systems and global best practices in rural development and trade.
My journey into commercial agribusiness began in the fields of Eastern Rwanda, working alongside smallholder farmers. I provided field trials, technical guidance, and extension services — but I quickly realised that isolated interventions were not enough. What Rwanda's agriculture needed was a coordinated approach: structured market systems, robust post-harvest infrastructure, and a focus on nutrition that met both local and international standards.
In 2016, I founded EFFECTIVE M&N Ltd to address these needs — integrating farmer empowerment, climate-smart infrastructure, and rigorous quality assurance. Today we support more than 375 contract farmers, 48% of whom are women and youth, all linked to structured markets through technical training, formal contracts, and digital traceability.
“My journey from Kamonyi to global markets shows that, with purpose and strong partnerships, Rwandan agribusiness companies can deliver global impact.”

Where We Grow
Farms in every corner of Rwanda
Varied climates across East, West, North, and South give us year-round production and consistent quality.

East
Avocados · Bird's Eye & Habanero chillies · grain maize · French beans
Near Akagera National Park, broad valleys and open farmland are sustained by reliable water sources — including the Nyabarongo, Rwanda's longest river at 351 km. Seasonal streams, small dams, and terraced hillsides feed fertile wetlands that keep production steady.
West
Slow-ripening avocados · passion fruit · premium horticulture
Cooler highland slopes influenced by breezes from Lake Kivu. Deep red volcanic soils and a mild climate are ideal for slow-ripening avocados and passion fruit.
North
Avocados · beans · high-value horticulture
Rich volcanic soils and regular rainfall produce high-quality crops with excellent flavour. Mount Muhabura and the Virunga peaks mark the edge of Rwanda's most fertile highlands.
South
Horticulture · seasonal vegetables · staple food crops
Fertile valleys with mixed-crop farming systems that maintain diversity and resilience, supporting local food security and market supply.
